Beyond the Basics — The Art of Seeing

The Art of Seeing workshops are practical, small-group field sessions built around observation, light, composition and visual awareness.

These workshops help you slow down, read the scene more clearly, and make stronger photographic decisions in real locations across Newcastle, Port Stephens and the Hunter region.

Photography begins before the shutter is pressed

Many photographers reach a point where they understand the basic camera controls, but their images still feel inconsistent.

The issue is often not the camera.

It is learning to see more clearly — to notice light, shape, balance, background, timing and atmosphere before making the photograph.

The Art of Seeing workshops are designed to help you build that awareness in the field, with practical guidance while you work.
